You will serve as a EQUIPMENT SPECIALIST (CRANES) in the Public Works Business Line, BSV&E Product Line Department of DEPARTMENT OF THE NAVY.
Duties
You will inspect, test, evaluate, and certify all types of Weight Handling Equipment (WHE).
You will analyze technical data for the assessment of weight handling equipment to interpret their operation and predict potential problems.
You will conduct load tests. operational tests and various types of proof tests on all categories of WHE, related transportation equipment, and various types of lifting gear.
You will develop and implement maintenance and inspection specifications, procedures, data sheets, instructions and other technical directives which are used to maintain the WHE and evaluate their performance and operating characteristics.

- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Assisting with work processes involving mechanical, hydraulic, structural, electrical and/or pneumatic systems of cranes and allied construction equipment; 2) Reading electrical schematics to assist in diagnosing and troubleshooting electrical problems on cranes; 3) Assisting with reading and interpreting crane load charts to calculate crane test loads; and 4) Using computer software (i.e., Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel) to retrieve, edit, and store crane information).

Education
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree
OR
Successful completion of two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree
OR
Possession of an LL.B. or J.D. that is related to this position being filled.
