You will serve as a Equipment Specialist in the Fleet Operations Department, Material Handling Equipment Division of Naval Air Station, San Diego, California.
Duties
You will research, collect, analyze, and develop documentation of the control data such as storage, distribution, life expectancy, usage, specified activity allowances, cataloging systems.
You will assist in managing, controlling, and tracking MHE maintenance database input and updates, and coordination of functions.
You will provide technical advice and recommendations relating to the maintenance, repair and overhaul of Material Handling Equipment (MHE).
You will evaluate allowance of three complete systems of MHE including commercial, complex specialized use (in support of Weapons Systems Afloat and Ashore) comprised of 27 separate commodity classes.
You will assist and support management and control of all Navy owned Material Handling Equipment (MHE) in the Commander Navy Region South West (CNRSW).
Requirements

- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector applying knowledge and skill in the full range of Material Handling Equipment (MHE) standards, policies, regulations, and methods in order to provide technical advice and recommendations on MHE operation, repair, maintenance, overhaul or replacement. Knowledge of MHE systems including commercial, complex specialized use in support of Weapons Systems Afloat and Ashore is also required. Examples of specialized experience include: 1) Assist management in evaluating allowance of three complete systems of MHE including commercial, complex specialized use comprised of 27 separate commodity classes; 2) Assist in providing technical advice and recommendations pertinent to the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of MHE; 3) Assist in tracking MHE maintenance database input and updates, and coordination of functions relating to MHE inventory assets; 4) Assist in researching, collecting, analyzing, and developing documentation of the control data (storage, distribution, life expectancy, usage, specified activity allowances, cataloging systems) for the inspection, overhaul, replacement, distribution, and disposal of MHE units.

Education

master's or equivalent graduate degree
or
2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
or
LL.B. or J.D., if related
