Duties
Serves as local subject matter expert on Army policy/procedures related to suicide prevention. Sets meeting dates, notifies participants, and records and distributes minutes of all meetings
Identifies, documents, and consolidates data related to any organization and/or command program expenditure utilized for suicide prevention and keeps leadership informed as to actual associated costs
Delivers oral presentations to include briefings, speeches, and training sessions, in areas of technical expertise.
Research topics and develops articles promoting suicide prevention for the installation newspaper and prepares news releases to publicize activities and classes
Identifies new prevention and intervention behavioral risk management programs needed to reduce high-risk behaviors the effectiveness of current or proposed risk reduction measures/programs
Assess program needs to accomplish goals and objectives; evaluates program status; and recommends and/or implements solutions for improvement

- The duties of this position may require the incumbent to carry a cell phone and be on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week on a rotational basis, based on the needs of the organization.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Basic Requirement for Suicide Prevention Program Manager:
A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in behavioral or social science, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
OR
B. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
OR
C. Experience: Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes implementing suicide prevention program policy and regulations; coordinating suicide prevention activities with installation and local community representatives; gathering and reporting data on suicides and attempts; and summarize trends to assess program modifications. Coordinate suicide prevention awareness and training activities (GS-11).
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
Education
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
