This position is established to assist with the implementation of the META program, with a specific emphasis on research, demonstration, and policy principles related to maritime environmental issues. Input to the development and implementation of both national and international maritime environmental policy is an important facet of this position.

Qualifications
To meet the minimum qualifications for this position, you must meet either the education or specialized experience requirements.To qualify for the GS-09 on Experience, you must have at least one year of experience equal or equivalent to the GS-07 it must include:
Experience in analyzing, researching, and summarizing findings that apply to domestic and international maritime policy associated with ship generated pollution.
To qualify for the GS-09 on Education alone, you must have:
2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or have been awarded a master's or equivalent graduate degree.
You can also qualify based on a combination of graduate education and experience. This must be fully supported by your resume and transcripts, provided with your application.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of the established principles, concepts and methods of environmental regulations sufficient to apply this knowledge in activities where the regulatory framework is well established and defined, and there are conventional procedures and techniques that apply to most situations encountered and can be carried out with minor modification.
Skill in using standard data gathering and analysis techniques to collect and review technical information related to environmental research activities.
Ability to prepare and assist with briefings or training programs, support conference attendees, and write reports and letters.
