You will serve as a MACHINIST LEADER in the Production Trades Division and Industrial Execution Departmentof FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST.

Duties

You will instruct apprentices, trainees, journeymen, and others in the proper use of tools, machinery, CNC operation, tooling, machining methods, and test equipment associated with the machinist trade. You will plan and lay out machine work from blueprints, work sheets, or drawings to complete machining assignments. You will set up jobs on different types of equipment involving accurate alignment to maintain specified tolerances. You will use accepted practices to make precisely install machined components into aircraft. You will follow work safety rules and procedures in accordance with agency guidelines. You will accomplish other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position is subject to working all shifts on a rotational basis, and working weekends and overtime.
  • You will be required to lift and carry loads up to 40 lbs. Any weight lifted in excess of 40 lbs. will not be attempted unaided.
  • Tasks will be performed while standing, sitting, and walking intermittently up to six (6) hours daily.
  • Position is subject to various noise levels, which will occasional exceed 85 DBA.
  • You will be required to utilize personal protective equipment that commensurate with assigned work tasks.
