You will serve as a Aircraft Machinist Work Leader in the Aviation Maint/Material Department of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST.

Duties

You will follow the approved programs of instruction (POI) and prepares training and provides OJT for each subject. You will make modifications to adapt material to new employees and current machinists. You will use prescribed texts, advance sheets, worksheets, technical and field manuals schematics, logic diagrams, and miscellaneous publications in preparation and conduct of the instruction. You will submit input and strives to improve instruction by executing different approaches and methods. You will diagnose trouble revealed by inspections and test.

Requirements

  • Work assignments involve walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, sitting, climbing and lifting.
  • This position is subject to lifting items weighing up to 40 pounds without assistance, and over 40 pounds will not be attempted unaided.
  • You may subject to environmental factors such as working outside and inside, excessive heat, cold, noise, dust, vibration, and working in confined spaces.
  • You may exposed to industrial materials such as cleaning chemicals, solvents, hydraulic fluids, oils and greases.
  • Selectee(s) may occasionally be required to use toxic chemicals and/or work in the presence of toxic fumes requiring the use of appropriate breathing apparatus.
  • You must be able to obtain/maintain required certification and/or license, as a condition of employment.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO INSTRUCT 1) Inspecting, analyzing, assessing and determining the condition of all sheet metal/machinist related issues to aircraft production, including, but not limited to corrosion, hole quality, precision measuring, drilling, engineering requests, reporting and more. 2) Identifying and documenting all non-conforming discrepancies and making informed technical decisions, from current engineering specifications and technical instructions, that limit work and processing to only what the incumbent authorizes. 3) Instructing Machinists apprentices, worker/helpers and journey level artisans in all aspects of machining operations and processes. 4) Providing technical instruction and demonstrations for Artisan Inspectors, Aeronautical Engineers and Quality Assurance Specialists in the proper use of tools, machinery, technical references, safety, repair procedures and test equipment associated with special process certifications 1) Inspecting, analyzing, assessing and determining the condition of all sheet metal/machinist related issues to aircraft production. 2) Identifying and documenting all non-conforming discrepancies and making informed technical decisions, from current engineering specifications and technical instructions, that limit work and processing to only what the incumbent authorizes. 3) Providing technical instruction and demonstrations for Artisan Inspectors, Aeronautical Engineers and Quality Assurance Specialists in the proper use of tools, machinery, technical references, safety, repair procedures and test equipment associated with special process certifications. 1) Inspecting, analyzing, assessing and determining the condition of all sheet metal/machinist related issues to aircraft production. 2) Identifying and documenting all non-conforming discrepancies and making informed technical decisions, from current engineering specifications and technical instructions, that limit work and processing to only what the incumbent authorizes.
