About the Position: This is a Facility Support Assistant, GS-0303-05, position with Chief of Staff - Operations Division Security Branch Located at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
Duties
Maintains Internet based personnel security and access control databases for faculty, support staff, students and contractor personnel.
Implements building access restrictions and ensures controls comply with applicable regulations and guidelines.
Escorts personnel to controlled access areas.
Performs inspections of work areas to ensure compliance with maintenance, physical security, and safety guidelines.
Submits work orders for non-routine and emergency maintenance.
Prepares a variety of statistical and narrative reports to keep management apprised of access control issues.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- Must possess some typing skill, but less than that of a qualified typist.
- May be required to stand for extended periods of time.
- May be required to work outside during inclement weather.
- The incumbent of this position is required to wear a uniform while on duty.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
- In the event of an emergency (e.g., inclement weather, disaster coverage, etc.), employee may be required to report for duty outside of scheduled shift.
- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license. Must be fully qualified to operate a government vehicle.
- Must be able to obtain certification in the operation of Automated External Defibrillators (AED), certification in cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) within 6 months of entrance on duty and must maintain current certification while in the position.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience performing data entry tasks utilizing automated databases; providing facility access control to maintain secure areas, and communicating with personnel to provide/obtain information or respond to inquiries. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).
OR
Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. (NOTE: You MUST submit copies of all your transcripts.)

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. (NOTE: You MUST submit copies of all your transcripts.)

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
