Duties

You will clean, inspect, and perform precision calibration and refurbish various types of couplers, thermal imager firefighting equipment and legacy RF communication systems You will utilize torque wrenches, micrometers and various gauges in assembly process and in repair or replacement of parts and/or sub-assemblies. You will maintain the command test equipment program by coordinating with calibration coordinators throughout the command You will install, troubleshoot, modify, and make repairs on various electronic systems and components. You will provide assistance, training and technical guidance to lower level employees including military personnel assigned to the Product Family. You will repair various electronic components and fiber optic systems onboard naval ships pier side and in dry-dock.

Requirements

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • This position may require you to climb ladders or scaffolding.
  • You will be required to lift, carry, and help setup tools, equipment, and parts that weigh up to 20 pounds.
