About the Position: The installation rests in the beautiful 'hill and lake' country of Central Texas between Killeen and Copperas Cove and is approximately 60 miles north of the capital city of Austin, 50 miles south of Waco, 160 miles south of Dallas, and 150 miles north of San Antonio.

Duties

Serves as Chief of the Transition Center, Military Personnel Processing Branch supervisor for all aspects of Transition Center retirement, separation, administration separation, and medical separation of officer and enlisted soldiers. Plans, schedules, and coordinates SRP functions, subordinate workload, space allocation for support activities, and unit SRP scheduling. Provides technical expertise during development of the installation mobilization and demobilization plans, policies, and guidance. In conjunction with installation support activities and Adjutant General directives, develops training and implementation plans for all administrative phases of on-site readiness processing. Coordinates both exercise and real world deployments/mobilizations and provides instructions as required to participating staff and units. Develops detailed long and short range plans to encompass command level operations. Prepares, develops, coordinates, staffs and maintains site readiness plans for annual exercises and real world SRP operations/procedures for Installation units, tenant activities, and supported USAR and NG elements. Incumbent will plan work to be accomplished by subordinates, set and adjust short-term priorities, and prepare work schedules for completion of work. Incumbent will also assign work to subordinates based on priorities, evaluate performance of subordinate supervisors, and develop performance standards.

  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.

OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Human Resources or Business Management. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Customer ServiceLeadershipManaging Human ResourcesWritten Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
