This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Center for Medicare (CM), Provider Communications Group (PCG), Division of Provider Information Planning & Development (DPIPD).
As a Health Insurance Specialist, GS-0107-13, you will be responsible for education, outreach, and customer service aimed at private health insurance consumers, beneficiary/provider populations and interest groups, and other stakeholders.
Duties
Educate beneficiaries, consumers, providers, and other partners and stakeholders about CMS programs.
Develop, evaluate, and implement plans, strategies, processes, and policies that guide education and outreach activities.
Maintains strong collaborative communication linkages between Central office and the regional offices and contracted stakeholders on education, outreach, and training initiatives.
Serves as a Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR), Business Functional Lead, Technical Monitor, or Government Task Leader (GTL) for contracts and documents related to the development, implementation, and assessment of CMS programs and policies.

In order to qualify for this GS-13 position, you must clearly demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include: (1) Developing, reviewing, and evaluating educational content that explain Medicare fee-for-service policy; and (2) Serving as a focal point for strategic communications such as coordinating efforts associated with public-facing content (e.g., websites, products, trainings, multimedia), and educational campaigns and engagement; and (3) Developing clear and effective content for multiple formats using plain language and user experience principles.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Time-in-Grade: To be eligible, current Federal employees must have served at least 52 weeks (one year) at the next lower grade level from the position/grade level(s) to which they are applying.
