You will serve as a Technician in the Energetics Manufacturing Department Deputy of NAVSURFWARCEN IH DIV.
This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project.
The NT-04 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to the GS-11 and GS-12.
Duties
You will report to the Deputy Department Head via an Operations Supervisor.
You will train and provide leadership to junior level technicians and explosive operators to perform the manufacturing processes.
You will inspect the product to ensure it meets specification and drawing requirements.
You will write and validate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
You will work with engineers and other technicians in using qualitative and quantitative techniques to solve manufacturing problems.
You will develop new tooling, fixtures and equipment enhancements to improve the manufacturing process.
You will maintain product quality and implement continuous process improvements, maintain equipment, tools and workstations and maintain a safe work area.
You will ensure that building is compliant with all safety requirements and conduct daily operational risk management (ORM).
You will provide consulting services to project engineers, other engineering technicians and explosive operators on equipment design and manufacturing methods.
You will support a manufacturing organization.
You will be required to report to the duty location advertised in the announcement on a regular and reoccurring basis. Occasional telework options may be available.

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals).
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NT-03 (GS-09/10) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: analyzing or evaluating materials, components, explosives, or other energetic devices to resolve operational or manufacturing problems in support of energetic production.
