About the Position: This position supports the mission of the J-8, Financial Operations Directorate and is located in Falls Church, Virginia.
Duties
Serve as the Assistant Chief of Civilian Pay and Financial Systems.
Provide expert interpretation of DoD, DHA, and DFAS regulations, policies, and administrative guidelines, as well as legislative changes, relative to disbursing civilian pay.
Participate, and represent the Chief, Financial Operations in management planning, policy and decision-making sessions regarding legislative changes, technological improvements and changes in governmental policies.
Coordinate resource management for all operations within the DHA enterprise for the General Funds Enterprise Business System (GFEBS) information system and Central DHA Programs under the direction of the Financial Operations Division.
Provide direct supervision to 52 subordinate civilian employees.
Control attendance and leave, including approval of sick and annual leave and vacation schedules.
Requirements
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required
- One-year supervisory probationary period required. A one-year probationary period is required if the selectee has not previously met this requirement.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: assisting with Civilian Pay operations (CPO), aiding with the oversight of financial policies/requirements, utilizing financial automated systems such as General Fund Enterprise Business System (GFEBS), and managing employee work plans.. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-14).
