You will serve as a PERSONAL FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST in the Marine & Family Programs (M&FP) Division of MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON.

Duties

You will interview, assess, determine assistance plans, make resource referrals and provide case management for personal financial counseling including but not limited to, budget formulation, debt management, investments and retirement. You will determine the type of information the client requires (i.e., referral, information, education or a combination of services) through a screening process. You will plan, schedule and coordinate financial education training or refresher training, financial management classes and specifically the Command Financial Specialist training. You will develop Base Order/Infograms, which emphasize operation requirements in support of the program. You will maintain and document client consultations. You will network, collect and validate financial resource materials, organizing and cataloging information. You will develop and prepare written material for use in meetings, workshops and presentations/briefings on services and programs available. You will provide statistical program data to leadership for monthly reports as required by the organization. You will recommend new and modified program policies, procedures and objectives that are advantageous to the organization.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You are required to possess and maintain a valid state driver's license.
  • You may be required to lift/carry items weighing up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Providing financial information to people with a need to understand personal financial matters (i.e., budgeting, investments, retirement funds), determining assistance plans and making resource referrals and coordinating financial education training. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, applicants can qualify for this position based on education substitution. To qualify through education substitution applicant must possess:

Master's or equivalent graduate degree

or

2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

or

LL.B. or J.D., if related

Applicants can also qualify through a combination of education and experience which when combined equal one year of specialized experience.
