About the Position:
This position is assigned to the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Military Community and Family Policy (DASD (MC&FP), Assistant Secretary of Defense for Manpower and Reserve Affairs (M&RA), Office of the Under Secretary of Defense, Personnel and Readiness (USD (P&R)).
Duties
Drive the creation and task management of strategic outreach and engagement strategies.
Develop outreach and engagement capabilities (e.g., technology fluency, community engagement, customer data and insights, data analytics) to help advance Military Community and Family Policy's mission objectives.
Create breakthrough customer offerings and advance marketing by testing alternative outreach and engagement media and new tools and techniques.
Align outreach and engagement efforts around customer centricity.
Lead outreach and engagement stakeholder affairs efforts by facilitating internal and other stakeholder collaboration.
Manage and evolve outreach and engagement contact development, task management, and performance assessments.
Perform a full range of first-level supervisory responsibilities.
Establish and nurture relationships with national, state, local, and military leaders with vested interests in improving quality of life for service members and their families.
Requirements
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Requirement.

- Direct deposit of pay is required.
- One-year probationary period may be required.
- Appointment subject to a suitability/fitness determination, as determined by a background investigation.
- One-year supervisory probation period may be required.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes developing outreach strategies supporting military community quality of life programs, developing marketing capabilities (e.g., technology fluency, digital expertise, customer data and insights, data analytics), testing marketing technology platforms, alternative media, and/or new tools and techniques, measuring brand awareness, and supervising employees and/or leading teams. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-14).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
