The United States Space Force is a military service that organizes, trains, and equips space forces in order to protect U.S. and allied interests in space and to provide space capabilities to the joint force. USSF responsibilities include developing Guardians, acquiring military space systems, maturing the military doctrine for space power, and organizing space forces to present to our Combatant Commands.
Duties
Mission: Prepare USSF forces to prevail in a contested, degraded, and operationally-limited environment through the independent test
and evaluation of USSF capabilities and delivery of timely, accurate, and expert information in support of weapon system acquisition,
operational acceptance, and readiness decisions.
Purpose of position: To serve as a security specialist and security advisor, providing oversight and management of multiple security
disciplines (information, personnel, industrial, physical, computer, operations and communications security) in support of an advanced
and special access programs (SAPs).

- Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret w/SCI clearance.
- Employee needs to obtain and maintain approval to access the portfolio of Special Access Programs required to perform daily duties.
- Position is subject to random drug testing.
- May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of TDY assignments.
- May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.

- Employee is in a designated position that requires consent and thereafter be subject to and successfully complete, an initial, periodic and random counterintelligence (Cl)-scope polygraph examination as a condition of employment.
- The employee must successfully take and pass a Counterintelligence Polygraph (CIP) Examination.
- Department of Defense Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) conferral is required within 2 years of the established employee EOD or initial assignment date to this position in accordance with DOD 3305.13-M,
- DoD Security Accreditation and Certification and AFI 36-2645, Security Professional Certification and Development.
- The listed certification requirements may not be deleted or modified without the written approval of the AF Security Functional Authority (SAF/AA) or their delegated security career field representative.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the next to lower grade GS-0080-04. Specialized Experience must include the ability to Analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data, and recognize solutions; Plan and organize work; Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
OR
Successfully completed a 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree in a security field such as Cyber security, Informaiton Security, Network Security, Security Management, or Risk Management.
OR
Have a combination of experience and education listed above.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of a wide range of security concepts, principles, and practices to review, independently analyze, and resolve difficult and complex security problems. Apply policy direction to contractors and government/military officials, and develop guidance for applying security policy, procedures, techniques, equipment, and methods to a variety of work situations and various levels or degrees of security controls.
2. Knowledge of a broad range of security program relationships, and proficiency in information, personnel, and industrial security to effectively implement and administer applicable security programs and/or coordinate with other specialized security programs.
3. Knowledge of security classification methods, concepts, and eligibility for access to classified or sensitive information to review plans for proposed or new projects, organizations, and/or missions to assure the presence of adequate planning for information security and other controls.
4. Knowledge of a range of security forces policies, procedures, and practices.
5. Knowledge of overall security forces missions, functions, and structure.
6. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
7. Knowledge of a great variety of state-of-the-art security equipment and devices in planning and implementing protective methods and security procedures.
8. Knowledge of security systems, procedures, theories, and devices sufficient to consider and apply several alternatives according to the security requirements for highly specific situations, availability of materials, relationships with other protective programs, and cost/benefit considerations.
9. Knowledge of risk factors applicable to all types of resource protection vulnerabilities to perform effective risk assessments and physical security and resource protection surveys.
10. Knowledge of electronic security system requirements, testing criteria, and documentation.
11. Ability to plan and carry out reviews of unit and/or contractor security programs, analyze and evaluate reports and conditions to recommend remedial actions.
12. Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
