Duties

In this position you will serve as an Intelligence Research Specialist, applying a full range of expert intelligence knowledge, skills, and abilities to provide insights that warn of potential threats and assessments on possible outcomes in regard to national security. This position starts at a salary of $103,409.00 (GS-, Step 1) to 13 (GS-13, Step 10) with promotion potential to $134,435 (GS-13 Step 10). Major duties for this position include, but are not limited to: Providing the Customs and Border Protection Intelligence Enterprise and operational stakeholders with intelligence products that inform and enhance their ability to make operational or tactical decisions in support of CBP Human Intelligence (HUMINT) operations. Advising, administering, or performing analysis, evaluation, interpretation and dissemination of information and intelligence. Applying a full range of analytical knowledge, skills and abilities in providing finished intelligence in support of HUMINT operations. Executing intelligence processes across all phases of the intelligence cycle; planning and direction, collection, processing and exploitation, analysis and production, and dissemination in support of HUMINT targeting and source operations. The SEC RIC is soliciting for an All-Source Intelligence Research Specialist that will provide direct support to CBP HUMINT operations/activities. Exposure to HUMINT and/or experience providing intelligence support to law enforcement operations is desired to fill this position.

Qualifications

Experience: You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Identifying, reviewing, and evaluating large volumes of sensitive and complex information in support of strategic, operational, or tactical operations; Assuming primary responsibility for the completion of long-range and broad-scope analytical products, including intelligence notes, estimates and assessments; Using established intelligence techniques to analyze data from a variety of sources to develop targets, trends, patterns, profiles, estimates, and studies in support of CBP operational and mission success; Conducting studies, preparing staff reports, and delivering briefings to managers and operators to enhance understanding and acceptance of findings and recommendations; Engaging in complex research and analyses to develop and publish finished tactical, operational and strategic level intelligence products; selecting the proper methods of dissemination, and coordinates dissemination of intelligence product Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must: Meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process; and Meet all applicable Time in Grade requirements (current federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent grade band in the federal service) by 06/24/2024. The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. Current and former federal employees may be required to serve or complete a probationary period.
