About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the ST-IC-W096AA HQ USSOUTHCOM.

Duties

Conducts Intelligence production concerning drug-trafficking organizations and their operational methods, capabilities and vulnerabilities, probable courses of action, and the threat they present to U.S. interests. Reviews intelligence information to provide varied products to users on foreign intelligence and security. Determines capability of drug traffickers in order to counter future capabilities that could affect US interests. Reviews Intelligence data from multiple sources, to include open source information, in the process of analyzing targeted activities and organizations. Assesses changes in drug trafficking methods and develops operational plans and courses of action to counter such threats.

Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance based on a T5 investigation/Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
  • Two year trial period may be required.
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • Ability to perform short notice temporary duty (TDY) travel as required in support of assigned duties, in-theater and National level interagency conferences, meetings, and discussions 25% of the work schedule.
  • Subject to recall after duty hours and shift work schedule.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes collecting and/or analyzing intelligence information such as human smuggling, weapon smuggling, drug trafficking, and /or human trafficking to determine security threat analysis to US interests and regional governments. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS-11). Progressively responsible experience is that which has included intelligence-related research, analysis, collections and /or operations. This experience should have included intelligence analysis and/or production, intelligence collection and/or operations, counterintelligence, or threat support directly related to the position to be filled. This experience should demonstrate: Knowledge of intelligence processes, cycle and organizations; Knowledge of and/or ability to use research tools such as library holdings, photographs, statistics, graphics and maps; Knowledge of the systems, procedures and methods of analyzing, compiling, reporting and disseminating intelligence data; and/or Knowledge of organization(s) for and methods of collecting and analyzing intelligence data.
