Duties

This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), United States Coast Guard (USCG), Seventh Coast Guard District (D7), Intelligence Division (dri), Document and Media Exploitation (DOMEX) Digital Forensic Lab (DFL), in Miami, FL. DFL Miami is a jointly operated maritime digital forensics laboratory with shared oversight and management responsibilities between D7 (dri) and Coast Guard Investigative Service (CGIS) Southeast Region.Being a CG civilian makes you a valuable member of the CG team. Requirements

  • This position requires a Top Secret/SCI clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • A final offer of employment is contingent upon a negative drug test result.
  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • A valid state drivers license is required.
  • A digital forensic community standard certification is required.
  • A non-disclosure agreement must be signed.

Qualifications

To qualify at the GS-13 grade level: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and ability to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line work. Examples of specialized experience including the following: Evaluating the validity, accuracy, and reliability of information received from a wide variety of sources to assess importance to foreign policy and Coast Guard operational and decision making interests in a broad assignment area; Preparing a wide range of analytic products to clearly, concisely, and coherently characterize the policy significance and implications of the issues and developments in the assigned area; Keeping agency officials, policy officials, and individuals in other organizations constantly apprised on significant new developments in the assignment area; Preparing written contributions to interagency intelligence assessments, preparing and advocating agency position on controversial or disputed issues; Acquiring information through extensive means and in senior agency staff and command members to issues of or developments of special urgency or importance; Conducting liaison with counterparts in other intelligence agencies to coordinate information acquisition activities, to participate in cooperative endeavors, to provide assistance in developing community intelligence reports, or to provide guidance, assistance or support on a variety of current operations intelligence. Applicant is required to attain and retain (in recognized digital forensic community standard certification and recertification timelines) as a CG Tier 2 DOMEX Lab Digital Forensic Examiner (DFE). Must obtain within 1year of employment. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.  If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
