The Transportation Assistant provides administrative support associated with the Beneficiary Travel Program for the Dayton VA Medical Center. The position is located in the Ambulatory Care Section (AC&P) of Patient Business Service. Transportation Assistant must be proficient in office automation and be able to efficiently navigate through the VA programs associated with processing beneficiary travel requests.
Duties
Duties include but are not limited to:
Coordinates service practices that decrease wait/delays for patients in all areas.
Assists with planning and directing programs that provide VTS supports services. Provides advisory services to internal and external customers.
Coordinates day to day program flow,processes and functions. Provides technical and management guidance necessary to achieve optimum use of service resources.
Collect, compile and track data and statistical information to support Veteran Transportation Service (VTS).
Collates incoming data and performs basic analysis of data to generate a Variety of Reports.
Reviews documents, reports, and or applications for omissions and inconsistencies and ensures data entry is complete and accurate. Enters pertinent information into an automated tracking system.
Receives and verifies accuracy and completeness of DSS workload. Maintains automated system of program-specific data to track progress, milestones, performance measures, clinic trends as it pertains to health and travel benefits
Uses Veterans Health Information System & Technological Architecture (VISTA, Computerized Patient Record Systems (CPRS) or SharePoint Consult\Request Tracking System to process internal consultations.
Plans and provides support services for program areas such as: electronic records management, driver scheduling, space utilization, and patient scheduling.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 06/24/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.

Physical Requirements: Incumbent will be exposed to stressful working situations that will require a mature attitude and collective reasoning to overcome. The incumbent is subject to a great deal of stress because of the high volume of work, the need for accuracy, frequency of interruptions and ever changing demands due to program changes.
