To serve as an Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) with responsibility for planning, implementation, quality assurance, configuration, installation, integration, maintenance testing, operational integrity and systems security (AIS) and associated aircraft platform mission systems.
Duties
Performs services as a systems administrator.
Enhances automated systems to improve system response time for users.
Develops and documents systems administration standard operating procedures and provides guidance to
leadership.
Provides technical assistance, training and support to customers at both home station and during deployed
operations and exercises.

- This position may require frequent travel or long periods away from the normal duty station to include CONUS or overseas and may include remote or isolated sites.
- Based on operational necessity, TDY away from home base in support of other CAF units may require travel by military air.
- The employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays and/or overtime.
- Must meet physical requirements for immediate worldwide deployment, remote from adequate medical facilities, for extended TDY.
- This position may require the employee to work under adverse environmental conditions.
- This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing.

Qualifications

EDUCATION: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.

Experience: Must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, and Problem Solving AND one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-09 (or equivalent in other pay systems) which includes Examples of specialized experience includes experience of systems integration methods, performance tuning methods, test and evaluation methods and procedures, IT security principles and methods, and project methods sufficient to plan and coordinate the installation of new products or equipment.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-09 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-11 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of a full range of IT principles, methods, regulations, policies, products and services sufficient to manage a classified security enclave, computers, communications, industrial, information, physical and personnel security programs.
Knowledge of IT security requirements for certification and accreditation, network operations and protocols, systems testing and evaluation and performance management methods sufficient to plan and conduct security accreditations reviews for installed systems/networks and assess/advise on new or revised security measures and countermeasures based on the results of accreditation reviews.
Knowledge of Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and Special Access Program information, industrial, physical, operational and personnel security principles, practices and policies as they apply to information systems security.
Knowledge of operating systems associated devices, and the interoperability of systems sufficient to install, upgrade, troubleshoot, test, and maintain those systems; to optimize the functionality and performance of systems; and to ensure the availability, integrity, efficiency, and reliability of servers.
Skill in organizing and prioritizing work tasks, even without direct intervention from the supervisor.
Ability to establish and maintain effective professional working relationships with higher headquarters, superiors, coworkers and customers in order to coordinate teams of people to cooperatively meet mission priorities.
Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, accurately and effectively, both orally and in writing.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
