Duties

You will analyze and translate system specifications into application program code, tests, debugs and documents computer applications in support of core business applications. You will consult with customers to refine requirement and develops prototypes for customer review. You will analyze existing systems and develops upgrades and interfaces to provide increased functionality and/or insertion of new technology capabilities. You will ensure the rigorous application of information security / information assurance policies, principles, and practices related to the delivery of application software services. You will monitor all information systems from a security standpoint.

  • This position is designated as a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce position. You must obtain and maintain the credentials as described in SECNAV M-5239.2 for specialty area 621 level 1 within 12 months of appointment.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements: You may meet basic eligibility through meeting either the requirements specified in the section titled Education or the requirements specified immediately below. Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Monitor and ensure that all systems are functioning as intended, remedy errors that may occur on a regular basis, provide upgrades which increase functionality and overall performance. Create security policies and ensure the security protocols and principles are being followed. Develop system prototypes for customers to test and review and consult with them to assess and gather information. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

Master's degree or equivalent graduate degree

OR

2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree
