This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Center for Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight(CCIIO). As a Health Insurance Specialist (Data Analysis and Studies), GS-0107-13, the incumbent designs, plans, and conducts data and/or research studies concerning the trends and impact of CMS programs.

Duties

Provide advice and assistance to Group/Division leadership using data in the form of charts, reports, and graphics, and applying a wide range of qualitative and/or quantitative methods. Conduct analysis of policy issues and topics, research background information and the intended impact in order to make effective policy recommendations. Provide recommendations to the Director to achieve program/project optimization based on data analysis and studies techniques to improve data quality. Respond to inquiries regarding program policies to a variety of internal and external stakeholders, and serve as a source of background data on the basis of research performed in preparation for the meetings and conferences.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
