The primary purpose of this position is: To establish long-term subject matter expertise and maintain success philosophies with a core of civilian instructors at AETC Combat Control/Special Tactics Officer (CCT/STO) apprentice qualification and supplemental courses.

Duties

Researches, develops, maintains, and updates material for AETC Combat Control/Special Tactics Officer (CCT/STO) apprentice qualification courses. Resolves problems with source material and subject matter. Determines the need for and initiates changes/updates in course content. Participates substantially in original course development and/or course modification. Plans, organizes, manages, and conducts effective classroom academic, progressive laboratory application, physical fitness, air traffic control, open water skills, proficiency parachuting, AIE techniques, weapon, and demolition instruction, in conjunction with field exercises. Training is location specific and inclusive of instruction in apprentice-level F/GCS and specific objective/qualification tasks training for CCT/STO career field trainees. Makes significant adaptation and/or course revision to accommodate changing subject matter or student specialized needs (as required). Makes adjustments in presentation or other instructional methods in anticipation of, or to accommodate, course content changes. Counsels students to identify and help resolve problems and learning shortfalls. Monitors and evaluates student progress and performance. As an instructor, maintains, updates or develops lesson plans, study guide/workbook, slides, measurement devices, and other instructional material specific to assigned courses. Accomplishes special projects/additional duties.

  • Candidate must have prior training as military static-line/free-fall parachutist with jumpmaster qualifications/certifications preferred. Jump qualifications must be recognized in AFI 11-410, with (cont)

  • Candidate must have prior training as a military diver with dive supervisor, dive medical training qualifications/certifications preferred. (cont)

Qualifications

Conditions of Employment Continued: Dive qualification must be DoD recognized with U.S. Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC) recognized training preferred This is an Obligated Position in which an employee has return rights. Upon the employee's return, incumbent may be required to vacate this position Specialized training/experience in Special Warfare Air Traffic Control (SWATC) is required. Candidate must have prior training in AIE and other insertion tactics, techniques and procedures inherit/utilized by Air Force Special Operations Forces. Ideal candidate should have 7 or more years of experience in SOF military TIP, with operational/combat experience desired Knowledge of emergency medical/first aid procedures is required. Candidate must have basic medical "first responder" and CPR training/certification. Ideal candidates would possess current advanced medical certification as an Emergency Medical Technician Basic/Intermediate and/or Dive Medical Officer (DMO) Employee is required to wear all uniforms provided by the employer and must wear and maintain uniform items in accordance with specified standards. The employee will be expected to maintain appropriate grooming standards (hair and mustache) and present a professional image at all times May be required to work uncommon tour of duty to include evenings and weekends Position is required to carry a firearm and will have resource protection responsibilities that could include the use of "Deadly Force." Employee must successfully maintain annual/recurring training requirements specified for the position and provided by employer. Courses include Law of Armed Conflict, Explosives Safety, Professional/Unprofessional relationships, suicide awareness, and others that may apply This position requires a SECRET security clearance Incumbent may be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of TDY assignments Position requires access to firearms. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence may not occupy this position in accordance with the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968, as amended 30 Sep 96. Employee must sign DD Form 2760, Qualification to Possess Firearms or Ammunition This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use. Qualifications: In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, Training Instructor series 1712+IOR ***THIS IS A CCAF POSITION*** For Community College of the Air Force GS-1712 position only: Section 9315 of 10 USC directs the commander of the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) to comply with standards established by the Secretary of Education to confer associate degrees upon enlisted members who have completed the requirements for the prescribed programs of study. To comply with this directive, all faculty members of the Community College of the Air Force must meet minimum educational requirements as prescribed by the accrediting body Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Colleges (SACS-COC), i.e. all teachers must hold at least an associate degree in order for the school to meet accreditation criteria. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level that demonstrates a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-09 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-11 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. Knowledge/application of training administration, policies, procedures. principles, practices, and techniques of instruction. To develop and conduct instructional programs for efficient delivery of training. Knowledge of tests and measurement principles, techniques, objectives, and test/measurement security. 2. Knowledge/application of continuous improvement through program objectives and assessments of tactics, techniques, and procedures for accomplishing special training studies and projects. 3. Knowledge/application of data collection techniques, practices, and statistical analysis principles for trend analysis. Ability to work harmoniously with all levels of person/leadership from varied backgrounds and occupational specialties. 4.Knowledge and ability to analyze problems and execute timely and economical processes for improvement and resolution of problems. To communicate orally and in writing and develop materials for presentation, with ability to project voice to large groups in outdoor/noisy areas and without speech impediments. 5. Knowledge, skills, and abilities in multi-environmental parachuting tactics, techniques, and procedures, with location/course determined requirement to participate in parachute training, operations, and exercises. In air traffic control tactics, techniques, and procedures, with location/course specific requirement to participate in tactical air traffic control and forward airspace control training, operations, and exercises. 6. Knowledge, skills and abilities in specialized AIE tactics, techniques, and procedures, with location/course determined requirement to participate in insertion training, operations, and exercises, In advanced physical training tactics, techniques, procedures, and state-of-art training sciences applicable to strength, endurance, flexibility, cardio-respiratory, and body composition assessments and training - with skill components of agility, balance, coordination, speed, power, and reaction. 7. Knowledge, skills, and abilities to conduct/perform high endurance training in all climatic environments - day/night, land/water/air - during protracted training periods and under adverse conditions. To assess, evaluate, and apply safety and Operation Risk Management (ORM) mitigation processes to inherit high-risk activities conducted in multi-tasking, dynamic environments. Education

QUALIFICATIONS:

(cont) assessments and first responder emergency actions and cardiopulmonary resuscitation, as determined by specific mandates of location/course of instruction.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social).
