About the Position: The Civilian Human Resources Agency (CHRA), Alaska is seeking to fill a HR Assistant position at their Fort Richardson, Alaska office. Incumbent will serve as an assistant to Human Resources Specialists working in a Civilian Personnel Advisory Center (CPAC). Performs a wide variety of technical support duties in one or more of the following human resources management program.
Duties
This is a developmental position; duties listed below will be performed in a developmental capacity. At the full performance, GS-07, the incumbent will:
Assist in recruitment activities by arranging for physical examinations, verifying veterans' preference, making job offers, coordinate report/release dates and processing pre-appointment security checks.
Process incoming requests for personnel actions; screen requests, documents, and reports for completeness and accuracy.
Provide recruitment and placement support services to specialists.
Conduct recruitment/examining activities for lower-graded positions.
Prepare vacancy announcements; prepare certificates; respond to customer inquiries on procedures for filing applications, status of recruitment announcements, and hiring procedures.

To qualify at the GS-05: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing clerical and/or technical support for an office such as, but not limited to, preparing job flyers and/or letters, creating and maintaining personnel and/or administrative office files; and responding to customer inquiries (walk-ins, emails or telephonically).
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).
OR
Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
To qualify at the GS-06: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing technical support for an office such as maintaining personnel office files, issuing job offers while coordinating pre-hire conditions of employment such as, but not limited to, pre-employment physicals, background investigations, and obtaining documents to verify appointment eligibility.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
To qualify at the GS-07: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting with maintaining personnel records/files, assisting in coding personnel actions in accordance with applicable regulations and/or policies, and reviewing personnel/pay inquiries to determine best course of action.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

GS-06 Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
GS-07 Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
Education
