About the Position: Serves as a Human Resources Assistant in a Civilian Human Resources Service Center (CHRSC) performing a wide variety of technical support duties in the Human Resources function of Recruitment and Placement.

Duties

Utilize human resources processes to verify information for accuracy during the recruitment process prior to entrance of duty. Review personnel records to ensure file folders contain the correct documentation and are complete and accurate in accordance with regulations, policies, and procedures. Provide support for recruitment and placement programs by screening calls/visitors, and responding to inquiries about merit promotion, reinstatement, transfers, etc. Coordinate job offers with all interested personnel to ensure all pre-employment requirements are completed for hiring.

  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: processing personnel actions, performing a wide variety of staffing support duties that require verification of information in all phases of the pre-employment process. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Computer LiteracyCustomer Service (Clerical/Technical)Human Resources Technology UsageStaffing and RecruitmentWriting Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
