This position is located in the Department of Health and Human Services, Office of the Secretary of Health and Human Services, Office of the General Counsel-Civil Rights Division, located in Washington, District of Columbia. **This announcement will be open for 10 business days OR until the first 150 applications have been received, whichever happens first.**

Duties

This position is located in the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Office of the Secretary (OS), Office of the General Counsel (OGC). The OGC is the legal team (Attorneys Working for People) for the DHHS, providing quality representation and legal advice on a wide range of highly visible national issues. The OGC oversees the provision of legal advice and representation to all components of the DHHS (except the Office of the Inspector General), on all aspects of department operations. The incumbent of this position serves as a management assistant and reports directly to the Associate General Counsel (AGC) or one of the Deputy Associate General Counsels (DAGCs) as directed by the AGC. Duties Include: Uses various computer software programs on personal computer to produce a variety of documents, including databases and spreadsheets to enter, revise, sort, calculate, and retrieve data for reports. Develops data tracking systems and inputs information. Assists the Administrative Support Specialist in the formulation of the annual budget estimate for salaries, benefits, supplies and services. Assists the Administrative Support Specialist in preparing estimates in support of anticipated needs for supplies, subscriptions, printing, equipment, and travel. Supports the Administrative Support Specialist in handling human resource issues relating to EPMS and performance awards, annual performance management plans, progress reviews, and performance evaluation ratings. Represents the office in all matters relating to new OGC-wide matter tracking system, including administration, creation of new categories, uniform entry format for varying legal matters, and other operational issues. Maintains control records of new assignments in accordance with office procedures for tracking workload and time expended in completing tasks. Compiles statistics of office workload and financial recoveries, used for reports to the Immediate Office.

Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the Minimum Qualification requirements as noted below. Minimum Qualifications: GS-08: You must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing ALL of the following duties: Creating and/or maintaining computerized databases; Providing office support functions, both virtually and in person, using computer/laptop, software (i.e. Microsoft Word, Teams) and/or programs; Preparing clear and concise correspondence or other written work. If such experience is on a part-time basis, you must provide the average number of hours worked per week as well as the beginning and ending dates of the experience so it can be fully credited. Time-in-Grade Requirement: Under competitive merit promotion procedures, any individual who is currently holding, or who has held within the previous 52 weeks, a General Schedule position under non-temporary appointment in the competitive or excepted service, must meet "time-in-grade" requirements (have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade of the grade for which you are applying). You must include an SF-50 (you may need to submit more than one) that supports meeting this requirement with your application package.
