The Department of Clinical Research Informatics (DCRI) is actively seeking candidates who are looking to embark on an exciting career opportunity. As an IT Specialist (DataMgmt), you will use your skills and insights to plan and manage large information technology projects and assist implementing complex clinical information systems in support of innovative Clinical Care and Biomedical Research.
Duties
Providing high-level technical expertise and major technical responsibility for developing, monitoring, and maintaining multiple databases and applications.
Diagnosing and resolving the most complex database management, problems, and issues within the Electronic Health Record (EHR) domain.
Collaborating with senior database experts to design, implement and maintain highly flexible database infrastructures capable of supporting both large and small applications on those platforms.
Implementing state-of-the-art computer technology and supporting a general- purpose database environment as well as specific application environments.
Monitoring the systems and maintenance routines, providing input for planning and developing new policies and standards for use of the supported products.
Ensuring that data models are capable of responding to changing requirements.
Providing recommendations to policies and guidelines for the development of data structures and access strategies that conform to business and mission requirements.
Documenting, tracking, and resolving user questions and problems for the full range of the organization's hardware and software.
Providing customer training; and ensuring the rigorous application of information security/information assurance policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of database services.
Requirements

Qualifications
You qualify at the GS-13 level, if you meet one of the following qualification requirements:
IT related experience demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience obtained in either the private or public sector, and/or completion of specific, intensive training that demonstrates that you possess each of the following four competencies: 1. You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: designing enterprise databases to support applications, system scalability, security, performance, and reliability; planning and installing upgrades of database management system software; developing data models for applications and various database structures; implementing automated data integration and data transformation solutions; and providing technical support and guidance to junior database administrators or specialists.
