Serves as a Maintenance Helper (minor maintenance/repairs) throughout the areas of the SLVHCS and can also be utilized in a housekeeping capacity as needed.
Duties
Installing paper towel, soap and toilet tissue dispensers and repairing them as needed.
Removing, cleaning, and replacing light lenses.
Perform minor preventive maintenance on EMS equipment, including but not limited to: replacing belts, bolts, screws, etc.
The primary requirements of the task to be performed in the position are a rudimentary knowledge of carpentry and furniture repair and ability to interpret equipment and service manuals.
Must have the basic skills for a wide variety of trades, including electrical, carpentry, plumbing, painting and general mechanics.
Operating cart washer machine.
Must be able to read write and comprehend written instructions and make simple computations and reports.
Must be proficient in the use of standard tools and equipment associated with the above-mentioned trades to include drills, hand driven and power driven, hammers, power screw drivers and an assortment of hand tools.
Hanging pictures, signs, bulletin boards and similar decorations/certificates etc.
Operates various equipment in the performance of duties, including a hand jack, a power pressure washer for cleaning a variety of equipment and a cardboard bailer and cardboard compactor, trash compactor.
Performs a variety of critical cleaning procedures that require knowledge of specialized aseptic techniques.
Must be able to follow specific procedures for environmental cleaning with minimal supervision.
Responsible for maintaining and operating the facility waste consolidation area and all equipment within including the waste compactor, detachable roll off enclosed dumpster, open bin dumpster, power pressure wash unit, and cardboard bailer.
Be able to work from ladders and be physically able to move furniture, filing cabinets, office equipment etc. as needed.
Operates powered cleaning equipment to include burnishes, buffing machines, auto scrubbers, vacuum cleaners, ride on scrubbers and must have knowledge for lubricating and changing brushes and pads as needed.
Responsible for maintaining acceptable sanitation in his assigned area in accordance with Medical Center policy.
Fills out work sheet for tracking purposes of funds and supplies.
Determines the best way of diagnosing problematic issues, selecting the proper materials, parts and supplies needed for repairs.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 9:00am-5:30pm, subject to change based on the needs of the facility.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Must be physically able to do a considerable amount of walking, standing, climbing ladders, stooping, bending, and crawling. Incumbent must be able to work in congested areas in tight, cramped, or awkward positions. Incumbent may be required to carry and set up ladders and indoor scaffolding/staging. Incumbent may be required to lift or move heavy equipment or furniture that may weigh more than 50 pounds. Incumbent may be exposed to cleaning chemicals and be fit tested for proper PPE and respirator.
Works in Medical Center throughout the facility. Since much of the work is done in patient care areas, the incumbent must be ever alert to the safety and well being of patients, visitors, staff, and fellow employees. Duties may also involve working in tight, cramped, wet, dry, and dusty areas. Incumbent may be exposed to skin irritations from strong chemical solutions.
