You will serve as a Supervisory Naval Architectural Technician in the Damage Control Branch (C258), Structural Engineering and Planning Division (Code 250), Office of the Chief Engineer (Code 240), Engineering and Planning Department (Code 200) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will make managerial decisions which direct and coordinate the timely establishment of new policies, instructions and procedures for the analysis, progress and control of the branch's workload.
You will review existing projects/programs and ensure their effectiveness and redefines their requirements or eliminates them when necessary to ensure program goals and objectives are met.
You will review workload schedules, forecasts, progress reports and manning requirements to determine the need for and to direct and coordinate changes in the branch's work and schedules to effect stabilization and to meet requirements.
You will prepare technical correspondence to NAVSEA, Ship's Damage Control Officers, Surface Warfare Schools and other activities, related to damage control products and specification.
You will conduct shipchecks and produce notes and sketches to support damage control document changes when existing records are deemed suspect/inaccurate.
Requirements
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience applying knowledge of several engineering disciplines such as structural, mechanical, and electrical in working on ventilation, communications, power supply, and principal piping systems; Experience applying knowledge of engineering principles to perform construction, operation, structures, machinery, device materials, and damage control for naval ships; Experience using the latest techniques to solve problems not treatable by traditional or accepted methods; Experience reviewing workload schedules, forecasts, progress reports and manning requirements to determine establish plans to meet shipyard commitments.
