Duties

If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for providing administrative and technical support functions to the United States Attorney's Office, District of Nebraska. Typical work assignments will include: Assists with the execution of the District's docketing function Reviews documentation required to open and close criminal and civil cases. Enters data; ensures proper codes are selected Supports the administrative needs of the Administrative Division Provides assistance to support services, budget and human resources. Assists in maintaining property inventory. Serves as backup for the timekeeper and assists with processing time and attendance for employees Assists with travel and training for the District Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

Requirements

  • You must be a U.S. Citizen or National
  • Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation
  • You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable
  • If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period.
  • You must meet all qualification requirements upon the closing date of this announcement.

Qualifications

GS-5: Applicants must possess ONE full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-4 level in Federal service. Specialized experience: Specialized experience is defined as: experience providing a variety of clerical and administrative functions such as producing written documents utilizing office automation software; sorting and retrieving data to produce documents and reports; preparing and/or assisting with travel requests and vouchers; making purchases within governing procurement regulations; receiving telephone calls and visitors to the office. Education: Four years of education above high school leading to a bachelor's degree in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the prerequisite. One year of full-time study is defined as 30 semester hours (45 quarter hours) or the equivalent or 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for 36 weeks in business, secretarial or technical school. -OR -Combination of education and specialized experience: Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. GS-6: Applicants must possess ONE full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 level in Federal service. Specialized experience: Specialized experience is defined as: experience providing a variety of clerical and administrative functions such as producing written documents utilizing office automation software; sorting and retrieving data to produce documents and reports; preparing and/or assisting with travel requests and vouchers; making purchases within governing procurement regulations; receiving telephone calls and visitors to the office; assisting with property inventory and processing support to area of budget and financial management. Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
