This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Center for Medicaid and CHIP Services (CMCS), Medicaid & Chip Operations Group (MCOG).
As a Supervisory Health Insurance Specialist, GS-0107-14, you will direct, coordinate, and integrate staff functions within MCOG for the Medicaid and CHIP programs with the work conducted by other groups within CMCS and with other groups and interests external to CMCS.
Duties
Direct the work of the Branch, in one of the Divisions of the MCOG and performs administrative actions for employees of the Branch.
Ensures that the staff provides responsive technical support and expertise to Medicaid state agencies and other CMS components in areas supporting state agency operations.
Assigns work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of employees.
Reviews actions for compliance with CMS policy and program objectives and takes necessary actions with the delegated program authorities.
Identifies developmental and training needs of employees; provides or arranges for needed development and training.

In order to qualify for the GS-14 , you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include: .
Providing technical assistance on Medicaid and Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) Operation issues to ensure state compliance; AND
Leading Medicaid operations to improve work processes; AND
Coordinating the review of Medicaid and CHIP oversight of State agencies to ensure programs meet Federal guidelines.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Time-in-Grade: To be eligible, current Federal employees must have served at least 52 weeks (one year) at the next lower grade level from the position/grade level(s) to which they are applying.
