This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Center for Clinical Standards and Quality, Survey and Operations Group (SOG).
As a Supervisory Health Insurance Specialist (Director), GS-0107-15, you will serve as a Division Director under the Emergency Preparedness and Life Safety Code Division. The Director will develop and improve survey, certification, and enforcement program strategies.
Duties
Direct, monitor and evaluate the activities of State Survey Agencies, which implement the Emergency Preparedness (EP) and Life Safety Code provisions in the survey, certification, and enforcement.
Directs the planning, development, and implementation of a comprehensive program that reviews state operations pertaining to the survey, certification, and enforcement of Medicare and Medicaid healthcare providers and suppliers.
Collaborate in the development/revision and implementation of national policy, regulations, and guidelines in survey, certification, and enforcement.
Ensure that staff successfully carry out their duties in conducting inspections, protecting health and safety for beneficiaries.
Imposing and enforcing sanctions for those that do not meet federal requirements for providing quality care and services.
Provides leadership, direction, and guidance for related divisions, state program agencies, and other partners in conducting LSC and EP surveys and investigating complaints.

In order to qualify for the GS-15 , you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include: (1) Directing, managing, or monitoring programs for assessing state agency, contractor, or provider performance pertaining to Emergency Preparedness or Life Safety Code provisions for Medicare and Medicaid; (2) Interpreting healthcare policy while applying operational and performance data metrics; and (3) Supervising or directing the workload of staff, or workgroups.

Time-in-Grade: To be eligible, current Federal employees must have served at least 52 weeks (one year) at the next lower grade level from the position/grade level(s) to which they are applying.
