This position is located at Departmental Offices, Management CFO-Deputy CFO. As an Environmental Protection Specialist (Environmental and Energy Specialist), you will oversee programs and projects to help ensure that Treasury achieves established strategic and operational goals, receive high ratings on relevant climate action and sustainable performance measures and/or scorecards.
Duties
The following are the duties of this position at the GS-13. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
Collaborate with and respond to the Treasury Climate Counselor to the Secretary and other senior leaders on climate change and sustainability matters.
Establish and maintain liaison and cooperative relationships with management, USSS, Federal Environmental Councils, professional organizations, and employee groups to promote acceptance and understanding of environmental requirements, standards, and objectives. Resolves conflicts in the interpretation of those issues, as required for DO.
Serve as Treasury headquarters' Bureau liaison to coordinate goals and actions, collect information, conduct analyses, and prepare reports to ensure DO and Bureau compliance with climate change and sustainability Executive Orders, environmental laws, regulations, and Treasury directives.
Track, collect, and report Treasury Bureaus' data for the Treasury and Bureau Climate Action Plans, Sustainability, Environmental, and Energy Plans, Treasury's Strategic Plan (Goals, Objectives, Annual Performance Goals, and Strategic Objectives Annual Reviews), OMB energy and sustainability scorecards, and Treasury's greenhouse gas inventories.
Review Bureau climate change vulnerability assessments, sustainability assessments, and submits comments and recommendations to the Bureau on climate risk and sustainability program management.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized experience for the GS-12: You must have one (1) year of specialized experience that has equipped you with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service, public or other private sectors. Specialized experience for this position includes all of the following:
Experience in monitoring and developing climate change mitigation and adaptation policies; AND
Experience in interpreting and applying climate-based legislation, regulations, and executive order.
The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
