About the Position: This is a Permanent position as an HR Specialist (Military) located with US Army Central, Manpower and Readiness Personnel Section, Shaw AFB, SC. Telework information: Situational Telework Only, Including emergency and Office of Personnel Management (OPM) prescribed unscheduled telework.

Duties

Serves as the Command's military, joint, public service and unit awards Assistant Program Manager. Coordinates as required between the nominating unit with sponsoring organizations concerning the interpretation of policy matters and the processing of awards. Supports the preparation and processing of DoD awards for which approval has been delegated to the Commander. Serves as the subject matter expert on all matters pertaining to military awards and decorations.

  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of up to 10% of the time.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. One year of specialized experience which includes 1) applying knowledge of military awards; 2) recommending policy changes to the awards programs; and 3) recommending solutions to improve the military awards process. OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Customer ServiceTechnical CompetenceWritten Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
