Position may be filled as a term appointment Not-To-Exceed (2) years. Term appointments may be extended beyond six (6) years, up to eight (8) years. With DoD approval, term appointments may be extended beyond eight (8) years.
Current permanent Federal employees (to include permanent Army employees) applying for a term appointment will be appointed/converted into a term appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position.
Duties
Plan, coordinate and direct a variety of operational, logistical and training functions related to logistical support for mobilized Individuals and Active, Reserve, and National Guard Units.
Provide advice, assistance, and independently develops plans dealing with procedural and factual aspects of logistical support or portion of more complex plans while serving along or as a team member.
Attend logistics conferences, meetings, seminars, boards and workshops as an advisor, briefer, or functional participant to develop or recommend logistics problems resolutions and new or improved techniques.
Perform a variety of administrative, logistical, and operational functions.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- May require extended travel away from the normal duty station up to 25% of the time.
- Must obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service which includes evaluating proposals for new or changing logistical support to meet mission requirements; determining initial distribution and redistribution of supply stock; implementing maintenance and supply procedures, inventory control and/or storage space utilization. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this position, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
