About the Position: The U.S. Army Health Clinic Presidio of Monterey is located on the U.S. Army Garrison Presidio of Monterey. Provide safe, quality care to approximately 7,000 enrolled patients and supports The Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center (DLFIC), U.S. Army Garrison Presidio of Monterey, The Naval Postgraduate School (NPS), Naval Support Activity Monterey.

Duties
Responsible for managing all administrative support functions for Commander of the California Medical Detachment.
Schedule and reschedule all of the Commander's appointments.
Coordinate the following: timekeeping; pay problems; TDY travel procedures and execution; leave.
Enter and retrieve data from the Defense Medical Human Resources System internet (DMHRSi).
Screen all correspondence addressed to the Commander and direct to the appropriate staff members.
Make travel arrangements for the supervisor, prepare requests for orders, confirming transportation requests.
Proofread completed work to ensure correct format, punctuation, grammar, spelling and presence of enclosures.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one- year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations .
- This position has been designated "Mission Essential".
- Require possessing and maintaining a valid US State issued driver’s license to carry out position related duties for the duration of Employment.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing clerical work involves the processing or maintenance of records or documents; managing various reports and utilizing office automated tools such as word processor, microcomputer, or computer terminal, to prepare correspondence, meeting minutes, memos, reports, etc. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Proficiency Required:This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors.
