About the Position: This position is with the Defense Language Institution, located in the Dean of Evaluation & Standardization Language Testing & Management Division in Monterey, CA. Monterey about 115 miles south of San Francisco and 350 miles north of Los Angeles. Monterey County is considered a high-cost area and the cost of housing is high. Duties
Serve as a scheduler in the control, preparation and development of high-stakes foreign language test schedules for resident and non-resident service members and employees of selected U.S. government agencies.
Advise requestors on the availability of different language tests and the criteria for testing.
Produce foreign language test schedules in preparation for testing events.
Inspect test schedules for correctness and completeness.
Schedule all required quality assurance reviews of tests requested by management.
Coordinate with testing personnel, other Defense Language Institution (DLI) divisions, field Test Control Officers (TCOs) and with language testing contractors to ensure logistics are in place for testing.
Review requests for accuracy and adherence.
Forecast testing requirements by monitoring all future class schedules to ensure adequate space and personnel are available to administer the required tests within the mandated timelines.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes advising on the availability of different language testing criteria, producing foreign language test schedules, inspecting test schedules for correctness and completeness. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-6).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
