This position is located in the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Office of the DoD Chief Information Officer (DoD CIO), Office of the Deputy Chief Information Officer for Information Enterprise (DCIO(IE)), DODIN Modernization (DM) Directorate.

Duties

Incumbent typical work assignments may include the following: Acts as principal technical advisor and action lead for the development and execution oversight of DoD-wide plans and policies for the implementation and operationalization of enterprise-wide networks and related infrastructure modernization efforts. Establishes and implements an enterprise Information Technology (IT) approach and management structure as the primary mechanism to identify, evaluate, and resolve fiscal, technical, programmatic, and operational issues supporting DoDIN Modernization initiatives. Promotes the integration of network security and network performance data from the perimeter, endpoint and mid-point into a value added big data platform in support of DODIN modernization objectives and cyber-security service provider needs. Ensures the development and implementation of a capabilities to enable DoD and commercial networks, cloud and cyber-defense capabilities are seemlessly integrated. Coordinates with external stakeholders to ensure Enterprise IT capabilities are adequately resourced to achieve Department objectives.

  • This position may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station via military or commercial aircraft.
  • This position may require work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays and/or overtime.

Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. Specialized Experience: For the GS-15, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable in difficulty and responsibility to GS-14 if outside the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience in building, testing, deploying, and/or operating enterprise-wide networks; developing policy and strategy for enterprise-wide network modernization, cloud, data centers, or enabling infrastructure; and experience participating in multi component/cross functional teams at levels such as agency or department headquarters. In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirements, qualified applicants must also possess the quality of experience as it relates to how closely or to what extent an applicant's background, recency of experience, education, and training are relevant to the duties and responsibilities of the announced position. Candidates must clearly demonstrate the possession of competencies necessary to successfully perform the work of the position at the appropriate level to be qualified for the position. Education

There is no substitution of education for the specialized experience at the GS-15 grade level.
