You will serve as a IT SPECIALIST (SYSADMIN) in the INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AND CYBER SECRUITY DVISION, SPECTRUM WARFARE DEPARTMENT of NAVAIRWARCENWPNDIV CHINA LAKE.

Duties

You will design topologies, install, setup and sustain network switches for LAN or WAN configurations. You will assist in cyber security risk assessments, physical security assessments, user awareness training, and develop accreditation documentation. You will build desktop computer systems and servers, adjust basic input/output system settings, driver installation and troubleshooting, and Windows/Unix/Linux shell commands.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate one year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined: 1. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. 3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. In addition to demonstrating the four competencies above, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower pay band (DS-03) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate some or all of the following related duties: 1) Troubleshooting failed system components, including both hardware and software components; 2) Installing, configuring, and maintaining operating systems (Windows and Linux) and software; 3) Assisting with cybersecurity requirements including applying patches, updates, and Security Technical Implementation guides for user desktops, laptops, and servers; and 4) Demonstrating knowledge of Linux (CentOS, Red Hat Enterprise) and Windows operating systems; Cisco and HP networking hardware and software products. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management.

or

3 full years (54 hours) of progressively higher graduate level education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree from an accredited or pre-accredited institution in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management; or, graduate education that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
