The incumbent serves as Auditor in the FMC Office of the Inspector (OIG) Pathways Recent Graduate Program. Participants in the Program receive training and professional development, complete an individual development plan (IDP), and are assigned a mentor. The OIG seeks highly motivated college graduates looking for a rewarding opportunity to build experience as a future Auditor.
Duties
As a GS-7, Auditor (Recent Graduate): the individual receives training through classroom and specific on-the-job training assignments to become well versed in audit techniques, FMC and OIG programs; and legislation, regulations, and practices.

All applicants MUST meet the recent graduate program eligibility requirement, the basic requirement AND the specialized experience described below for this position:
RECENT GRADUATE PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY
You must have obtained a qualifying associate's, bachelor's, master's, professional, doctoral, or technical/vocational degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution within the previous 2 years from close of announcement date.
Veterans who were precluded from applying during any portion of the two-year eligibility period due to their military service obligation will have a full two-year period of eligibility upon release or discharge from active duty to apply. In no event may the period extend beyond six years from the date the veteran completed all the requirements of an academic course of study.
BASIC REQUIREMENT
A. Degree: accounting, auditing; or a degree including auditing courses in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law.
OR
B. Combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge. Your background must also include one of the following:
Twenty-four semester hours in accounting or auditing courses of appropriate type and quality. This can include up to 6 hours of business law;
A certificate as Certified Public Accountant or a Certified Internal Auditor, obtained through written examination; or
Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in accounting or auditing, e.g., 15 semester hours, but that does not fully satisfy the 24-semester-hour requirement of paragraph A, provided that (a) the applicant has successfully worked at the full-performance level in accounting, auditing, or a related field, e.g., valuation engineering or financial institution examining; (b) a panel of at least two higher level professional accountants or auditors has determined that the applicant has demonstrated a good knowledge of accounting and of related and underlying fields that equals in breadth, depth, currency, and level of advancement that which is normally associated with successful completion of the 4-year course of study described in paragraph A; and (c) except for literal nonconformance to the requirement of 24 semester hours in accounting, the applicant's education, training, and experience fully meet the specified requirements.
AND
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE
FOR THE GS-07: You must have 1 year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
Assisting with conducting research and fact finding;
Assisting with collecting, evaluating, and analyzing data; and
Assisting with preparation of audit related documents and materials.
OR
One full year of graduate level education which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the Auditor position.
OR
An appropriate combination of education and experience as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.
OR
Successful completion of all the requirements for a bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement. In order to be creditable under this provision, Superior Academic Achievement must have been gained in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled, such as that identified in Education above. Superior Academic Achievement is based on: (1) Class Standing - Applicants must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses; OR (2) Grade Point Average (GPA) - Applicants must have a grade-point average of either (a) 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B" or better) as recorded on your official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or (b) 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B+" or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum.; OR (3) Honor Society Membership - Applicants may be considered eligible based on membership in one of the approved national scholastic honor societies listed by the Association of College Honor Societies (https://www.achshonor.org/).
FOR THE GS-09: You must have 1 year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
Drafting reports and papers based on research and fact finding conducted;
Collecting, evaluating, and analyzing data and preparing recommendations of findings; and
Assisting with preparation of audit related documents and materials.
OR
Two (2) full years of graduate education or a master's degree, LL. B, J.D., or equivalent degree that demonstrates the competencies needed to do the work of the Auditor position may be substituted for the experience required.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience. Please note that only graduate education in excess of the first full year is creditable towards meeting the specialized experience/education requirement at the GS-09 grade level.
The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector, or Volunteer Service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
