You will serve as a QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST (SHIPBUILDING) in the COATINGS/CORROSION CONTROL SURVEILLANCE DIVISION of SUPSHIP GULF COAST.

Duties

You will monitor contractor compliance to the navy coatings and corrosion control requirements to a multitude of Streel Structure Paint Council (SSPC)/National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) specifications and navy standards. You will perform procedure reviews, conduct independent surveys and corrosion control focused audits. You will provide in-process inspections and evaluations and perform other duties as directed. You will review and monitor contractors systems for certification requirements, in process control procedures, new coating application and surface preparation equipment. You will monitor contractor engineering intervention of subject related coatings issues, review contractors coatings application procedures and measure and evaluate a variety of acceptance standards to contract requirements. You will provide on-site technical assistance to SUPSHIPGC project offices, various NAVSEA departments and product assurance divisions as directed. You will assist in developing, conducting and reviewing internal training programs within the technical, industrial professional specialties and area of expertise. You will function as Quality Assurance Representative for SUPSHIP at remote Contractors facilities and may be required to work or assist in other branch divisions of the Quality Assurance department as the workload dictates.

  • This position involves work onboard ships.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector conducting quality assurance duties on contractor performance, facilities, systems, or processes to ensure compliance with established regulations and standards used in shipbuilding.
