This position is located at Bureau of the Fiscal Service, Post Payment Division. As a Clerical Assistant, you will perform work related to the mission of the organization by applying analytical methods and established procedures to complete work.

Duties

As a Clerical Assistant, you will: Perform standard and non-standard assignments involving different and unrelated processes in support of departmental goals, utilizing systems and processes associated with non-receipt claims. Input data to appropriate database or electronic application. Maintain databases and other applications as instructed by supervisor/lead. Provide miscellaneous office support such as answering and making calls, maintaining office files, routing mail by address or subject matter, conducting and copying materials for recurring and special purposes, operating standard office equipment, and preparing daily reports. Respond to general technical inquiries, providing information and explaining procedures and regulations, and resolving issues involving office programs. Verify applicable standard policies and procedures.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement. The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/day/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week on your résumé. Specialized experience: For the GS-05, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes all of the following: Utilizing computer systems to enter data entry of specialized records and prepare reports; AND Responding to clients via email or on the telephone; AND Reviewing files or documents for completeness and compliance with established guidelines. OR You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: four (4) years of education above the high school level. (Please attach copy of transcript or list of college courses designating semester or quarter hours earned to ensure proper credit.) OR You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the requirement must equal at least 100 percent. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (90 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education. Options for qualifying based on a combination will be identified in the online questions.
