Duties

If selected for this position, you will serve as an Administrative Services Assistant in the United States Attorney's Office, Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Typical work assignments will include: Picks up outgoing and inter-office mail and reviews for completeness of address and conformance to applicable instructions, regulations and directives ensuring all Justice Management Division mailroom regulations and requirements are being met. Receives, analyzes and sorts for distribution all incoming mail to the various divisions within the office. Assures mail is metered and dispersed on the correct dates. Makes regular and special messenger trips within the office and to/from the Federal Courthouse. Runs errands and handles special requests. Maintains Government Vehicles scheduling and completing routine maintenance checks and tracking usage, fuel logs and odometer readings. Conducts physical inventories and maintains property equipment inventory. Assists in identifying equipment to be bar coded. Assists with the wall-to-wall inventory. Matches current inventory of equipment with system generated inventory and reconciles discrepancies. Assists in a variety of administrative services activities. Assists with special projects, as needed, such as setting up conference rooms and offices. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

Requirements

  • You must be a U.S. Citizen or National
  • Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation
  • You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable
  • If selected, you may be required to complete a one-year probationary period.
  • You must meet all qualification requirements upon the closing date of this announcement.

Qualifications

GS-08: To be eligible at the GS-08 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level. Specialized experience: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level. Specialized experience is defined as performing a variety of administrative services in support of a business or program office to include assisting in maintaining property inventory; receiving and processing all incoming and outgoing mail, serving as a receptionist, controlling access to the office, and ensuring that visitors are authorized entry; and providing office automation support such as creating, copying, editing, storing, retrieving and printing a variety of documents. To be qualified, you must type at least 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors. (A typing test may later be required.) Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies. If your agency has notified you in writing that you are a displaced employee eligible for ICTAP consideration, you may receive selection priority if: 1) this vacancy is within your ICTAP eligibility; 2) you apply under the instructions in the announcement; and 3) you are found well-qualified for this vacancy. To be well-qualified, you must satisfy all qualification requirements for the vacant position and receive a score of 85 or better on established ranking criteria.
