About the Position: This position serves as administrative support to the Combined Arms Center, G8, Resource Management Directorate.
This is a developmental position targeted to the GS-7 grade level. This position will be filled at the GS-6 or GS-7 grade level. Incumbent may be noncompetitively promoted to the next higher grade upon supervisor's recommendation and when eligibility requirements are met and supervisor certifies satisfactory performance.
Duties
As Administrative Support Assistant (Office Automation), you will perform the following duties which is not an all-inclusive list. Duties at the GS-6 level are performed under more than normal supervision.
Directly assists in the management of all administrative support program functions and serves as the primary source of information.
Responsible for the preparation, maintenance, and deposition of required administrative reports and correspondence.
Acts as the point of contact for all newly assigned personnel to the organization and serves as the organizational point of contact on civilian personnel issues.
Conduct studies, inquiries, and surveys to determine compliance with program requirements.
Serve as the primary card holder for purchases with the Government Purchase Card.
Schedule meetings and conference calls for the directorate, prepares and manages travel related orders for members of the directorate.
Receive inquires and telephone calls and determines which require the personal attention of the supervisor and which may be referred to an appropriate subject matter expert.
Provide assistance with timekeeping, ensuring all leave has been documented and certified.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Secret security clearance.
- This position requires the services of a qualified typist.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a valid state-issued driver's license to operate a government vehicle for the performance of his/her duties.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a government credit card to order and account for supplies.

Specialized experience for the GS-06 level: One year of specialized experience which includes compiling data, preparing reports and correspondence utilizing computer software programs, and calendar/scheduling management. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration, Business Management, Financial Management, or Accounting. (NOTE: You MUST submit copies of your transcripts.)

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages. (NOTE: You MUST submit copies of your transcripts.)
Specialized experience for the GS-07 level: One year of specialized experience which includes duties such as managing incoming and composing outgoing correspondence, maintaining supervisor's calendar, scheduling and arranging for conferences and meetings, providing administrative and clerical functions utilizing various computer programs (e.g., Microsoft Office Word and Excel), maintaining time keeping/payroll functions,purchasing and maintaining supplies, and gathering data for reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration, Business Management, Financial Management, or Accounting. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Typing Proficiency: This position requires a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM) based on a 5 minute sample with 3 or fewer errors.
Time in Grade Requirement for the GS-6 grade level: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
Time in Grade Requirement for the GS-7 grade level: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
