The incumbent serves as an Environmental Protection Specialist in the Environmental Policy Division (AEE-400) of the Office of Environment and Energy (AEE). Responsible for supporting agency-wide compliance with environmental statues, regulations, executive orders, and requirements or goals set by the Department of Transportation (DOTI or the FAA, particularly in matters involving the application of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).
Duties
Performs multiple, varying, and complex assignments under the limited direction of a manager, project/ program manager, team leader, or more experienced technical specialist. May act as a contributing specialist on large work activities or as a team leader for single or small work activities. Provides support on the development of agency wide policy, procedures and guidance regarding the interpretation of NEPA and related environmental statutes, regulations, and Executive Orders.

- Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- Travel Required: 10% (Domestic Only)
Qualifications
To qualify for this position you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the FV-H, FG/GS-12 level. This experience is typically related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been at least equivalent to the next lower level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE IS DEFINED AS: Experience drafting correspondence and supporting briefings or other presentations to upper management.AND;Experience in data collection, organization, and analysis of data while using data visualization tools and GIS to develop environmental documentation.AND;~Experience applying environmental laws and policy to specific civil aircraft operation projects and agency actions.OR;Experience assisting with application of the Department of Transportation Act Section 4(f) to agency actions.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------You should include relevant examples of the specialized experience in your work history.
