The position is located at Whiteriver Service Unit, Indian Health Service Hospital (WRSU), Birthing Center. Under the supervision of a licensed Registered Nurse, performs patient care, technical and clerical services in the Birthing Center. The incumbent must be able to document and retrieve patient and work related data electronically via several standardized computer programs, as well as written hard copies.

Duties

Assist medical provider in obtaining vital signs and other body measurements, including chief complaint and brief patient history. Assist with clinical procedures, facilitating the flow of patients through the Birthing Center. Assemble equipment and supplies in preparation for various diagnostic or treatment procedures performed by medical provider or nurse such as setting up delivery table, applying monitoring equipment or restocking rooms and processing soiled instruments Perform clerical tasks, such as answering phones, registering patients in the computer and in outpatient log book, schedules appointments. Maintain the High Risk OB list and help facilitate the High-risk OB meetings. Serves as the point of contact for all payroll and timekeeping function for the unit. May be required to rotate to other units to serves as an alternate timekeeper when necessary.

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, GS-05: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: non-professional work of a technical or support nature in the field of health and medicine, such as taking vital signs; determining what the provider needs to treat the patient; providing instructions to patients; assisting the RN/provider in medical treatments; transporting a wide variety of specimens to the lab. OR; Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree, with major study or at least 24 semester hours in subjects directly related to the position. OR; Have a combination of education and experience that when combined fully meet the minimum qualifications for this position. The total percentage equals at least 100 percent to qualify for this GS-05 grade level. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, GS-06: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: non-professional work of a technical or support nature in the field of health and medicine, such as taking vital signs; determining what the provider needs to treat the patient, monitoring patient's conditions by interviewing patients; Assisting with the following: Appointment coordination, administrative support, assisting with activities of daily living, including perineal care; breastfeeding support, newborn care, and car seat training. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
