About the Position: Performs logistics management functions which involve planning, coordinating, executing, and evaluating logistical actions supporting missions and programs in the Joint Mortuary Affairs Center. Serves as logistics management specialist responsible for authorization, acquisition, disposal, and accountability of human cadavers, Training Aids, Devices, Simulator and Simulation (TADSS) and associated equipment.
Duties
Plan, coordinate, execute and evaluate logistical actions that support missions and programs in the Joint Mortuary Affairs Center.
Authorize, acquire, dispose of and accountable of human cadavers, training aids, devices and associated equipment.
Monitor and maintain inventory control for human/simulated human remains and personal protective equipment and/or items.
Serve as a liaison to the Virginia State Anatomical Program (VSAR).
Operate and/or manage governmental vehicle assets for coordination, receipt and transfer of anatomical materials.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- This position requires the handling of human remains (within an operational morgue and anatomical laboratory), portions, decomposed/skeletal remains, tissues and body fluids.
- Employees assigned to a medical facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations such as Hepatitis A, B and Tetanus.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 70lbs with partner assistance handling human cadavers and simulated human remains weighing over 70 pounds in the regular performance of duties.
- This position frequently requires work in grasses and wooded environments during inclement weather.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience in the analyzation and validation of human cadavers, simulated remains and personal protective equipment in order to reconcile inventories and receipt documents along with developing plans to provide logistical support during day to day operations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. [remove LL.M., if unrelated] in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Physical Science.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
