This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI), Seamless Care Models Group (SCMG), Division of Special Populations and Projects (DSPP). As a Supervisory Health Insurance Specialist, GS-0107-14, you will serve as Deputy Director of DSPP providing leadership and executive direction for implementing assigned programs within the Division.

Duties

The Deputy Director directs activities with internal and external stakeholders (e.g., HHS, the Office of the Inspector General (OIG), the White House, Congress, etc.) concerning alternative payment models, model payment policy and operations. Represents the Director at meetings, on task forces, and working groups, internally and externally, as needed, and assembles and directs teams or task forces for the duration of special assignments or projects. Manages models that test innovative healthcare payment and delivery approaches to examine implications for Medicare or Medicaid policy and regulations with a focus on special populations, including kidney disease and End Stage Renal Disease. Plans, organizes, directs, coordinates, and controls the resources required to assure the timely, accurate, and cost-effective accomplishment of the Division's functional responsibilities. Presents issues to senior management, and serves as principal advisor to the Director on requirements and issues associated with the program area of expertise.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for the GS-14 , you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include: Designing, developing, or managing projects or studies related to at least one of the following: kidney care, alternative payment models (APMs) in Medicare, rule writing, and/or Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs); AND Briefing senior leadership and drafting health care regulations or policies; AND Planning or directing the work activities of staff or teams. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Time-in-Grade: To be eligible, current Federal employees must have served at least 52 weeks (one year) at the next lower grade level from the position/grade level(s) to which they are applying.
