This position is located in the Washington, DC Commuting Area in the Bureau for Global Health, Office of Infectious Diseases Tuberculosis Division (GH/ID/TB), at the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).
Duties
Uses knowledge that is acquired through formal TB and HIV/AIDS training, or extensive on-the-job experience to advise, and evaluate technical information and issues related to TB and HIV in resource limited settings.
Applies knowledge and application of practices for designing, analyzing, managing and implementing public health programs and/or similar government projects related to TB and HIV/AIDS.
Influences, motivates, and challenges others; adapts leadership styles to a variety of situations for TB/HIV in resource limited settings.
Develops TB/HIV networks and builds alliances at the country and global level; collaborates across boundaries to build strategic relationships and achieve common goals.
Organizes work, sets priorities, and determines TB/HIV programming requirements; determines short- or long-term goals and strategies to achieve them.
Coordinates with other organizations (particularly multilateral organizations) and parts of the organization to accomplish goals; monitors progress and evaluates outcomes.
Requirements
- United States Citizenship is required.
- Relevant experience (see Qualifications below).
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
- Males born after 12/31/1959, must be registered with the Selective Service.
- You may be required to serve a one-year probationary period.
- These are Testing Designated Positions (TDP's) under the Agency's approved Drug-Free Work Place Program. All applicants selected for this position will be subject to random drug testing once they begin working for the Agency.

Qualifications
Specialized Experience:
GS-14: In addition to the Education requirement and Selective Placement Factor, you MUST have one year of specialized experience is required that is equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-13 level in the Federal service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Examples of qualifying specialized experience at the next lower level for this position include: a) Experience designing and implementing TB/HIV diagnosis, care, treatment, and prevention programs in resource limited settings at the global, regional and national levels using international policy and guidance; (b) experience introducing new TB/HIV case finding and diagnostic technologies including at the primary health care level in resource constrained settings; AND (c) experience coordinating and collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders in high burden TB/HIV countries including local organizations, national TB programs, civil society, communities, and multilateral organizations (must include Stop TB Partnership, World Health Organization and the Global Fund).
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, relevant to the duties of the position to be filled, including volunteer experience.
