About the Position: Serves as a Lead Civil Engineering Technician for the civil works projects performing technical and design assignments primarily by use of Computer Aided Design/Drafting (CADD), AutoCAD, Micro-station and civil engineering design software package, and In-roads.

Duties

Work closely with other team members in the development and preparation of final contract drawings. Identify such problems and reports discrepancies with suggested solutions to team members for clarification and/or solution. Prepare plans, grading plans, design site layouts, cross-sections, details, and centerline profiles for inclusion in various feasibility studies, reports, design analyses, contract drawings and specifications. Prepares three-dimensional digital terrain models from point files downloaded from data collectors or from digital surveys. Review in-house and contracted work to include surveys, plan, drawings, design analysis, and specifications for compliance with accepted standards. Prepares drawings and portions of design analysis for a variety of civil works, military projects, and IIS projects. Utilize basic civil design analysis includes hydrologic/hydraulic, geotechnical, and/or civil site and basic use of appropriate models and design tools/software. Utilize CADD systems including MicroStation, AutoCAD, INROADS, Civil3D, or other CADD application and software including databases, word processing, spreadsheets, ProjectWise, and GIS.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10) Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-10).
